Biography

Best known as Potsie from Happy Days, Anson Williams has directed just the one XENA episode, the excellent Remember Nothing.

"He was born in Los Angeles September 24th 1950 and, after a course of dramatic art, he discovered his love for the recitation. After many secondary roles in musicals and theater, he became a popular face in USA having acted in many advertisements (also the MacDonald`s one).

He began his career with TV-series, musicals and quiz shows. He took part in the Pilot of the future "Happy Days", "A new family in town" where he is the friend of Howard Richie-Ron. As the "Happy Days" project started, he was chosen for the POTSIE role, this role assures him definitely and even allows him to sing (his other passion).

After finishing the "H.D.", he tried a singing career but without success.

In 1977, he starred in his own syndicated television special, "Anson Williams at Sea World". In 1981, he and his wife, Lorri Mahaffey, who played his girlfriend on "Happy Days", starred in a television special called "Anson and Lorri". The show was conceived as a pilot for a spin-off, but it failed to sell. Over the last several years, Williams has compiled an extensive list of credits as a television director. In addition to several television movies, he has directed episodes of "Star Trek", "Voyager", "Los Angeles Law", "Beverly hills 90210," "Melrose Place", "The Pretenders", " Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules". He directed several episodes of "Diagnosis, Murder" during its first few seasons. He recently directed an episode of "Love Boat: The Next Wave" on October 30th that featured 5 of the original Love Boat cast members and also had an appearance by Marion Ross. In 1987, he and fellow "Happy Days" cast member Al Molinaro (Al) opened a chain of diners in the U.S. Midwest called appropriately enough, Big Al`s. "
