TJ worked as a second unit director and stunt coordinator on many TV shows like Due South and the Robocop series, before directing Robocop episodes. However, Xena and Hercules provided him with more work from 1995. TJ has directed 7 Xena episodes to date, as well as 3 Hercules. He was the directer of the Young Hercules pilot film. TJ has directed episodes of La Femme Nikita, Legacy and Cleopatra 2525. When Renee O'Connor was shadowing a director in preparation to direct herself, it was TJ Scott's work on Adventures in the Sin Trade she observed.

TJ recently married Vicky Pratt (Cyane in AITST and Sarge in Cleopatra 2525).
