After the India episodes, Xena and Gabrielle return to Greece and this fun comedy episode. Gabrielle takes centre stage as she and Joxer become theatre impressarios!

Gabrielle is persuded to write a play of one of her scrolls by a con woman. Auditioning potential "Xena"`s and "Gabrielle"`s while trying to write the right sort of play is Gabrielle`s challenge in this Lucy-lite episode.

A new pair of writers who have never worked on the show again!
The actor cast as "Xena" is played by Polly Baigent, who is actually one of Lucy Lawless` stand-ins. Very similar to Lucy in stature, Polly appears regularly but has only been credited once before, in S1`s Dreamworker. Peter Muller as the centaur actor, Dustinus Hoofmanus appeared with Lucy Lawless in two Hercules episodes. He was Deric, Lucy`s centaur boyfriend.

The alternative title of Gabrielle`s play, Faster Chakram, Kill! Kill! Kill! is a joke on the Russ Meyer film, Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! Kill!

The title of the episode comes from Shakespeare`s Hamlet, "The play`s the thing wherein I`ll catch the conscience of the king."
